Heightened security: Grenade attack injures one

Officer says initial investigation suggest that two armed riders had hurled a grenade.

KARACHI: A bicyclist was injured when unidentified men threw a hand grenade near the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Base Faisal on main Sharae Faisal on Tuesday.

A contingent of Rangers and police personnel, as well as, members of the bomb disposal squad (BDS) reached the site after the incident.

DSP Shakeel Awan said that the bicyclist, Izhar, son of Ghulam Haider, was injured in the attack, and he was taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for treatment.

The officer said that initial investigation suggested that two armed riders had hurled a grenade.

Awan ruled out PAF base was the target, but said that law enforcers had yet to figure out their motive.
