LAHORE: A consumer court has directed a designer to pay Rs21,000 in damages to a petitioner for not delivering clothes on time. Petitioner Zameer Fatima had asked for Rs512,000. She submitted that she ordered some clothes from respondent Nadeem Chaudhry and paid him Rs7,000 as advance on a total payment of Rs14,000. The delivery date was set for August 2012. However, Chaudhry did not deliver at that time and sought more time, she added. She said Chaudhry gave her another date for delivery, but on that date his shop was closed for Eid. The petitioner said the she had ordered the Eid clothes to give as gifts. The respondent missing the delivery date had caused her humiliation. She prayed the court to direct the respondent to return the advance payment of Rs7,000, pay Rs500,000 in damages and Rs5,000 for calls made to him and the travelling expenses. The court directed the respondent to pay back the petitioner her advance as well as Rs14,000 in damages.
