Inmate’s Death: Judicial inquiry ordered

The body was sent for a post-mortem examination.

SAHIWAL: An additional district judge on Wednesday ordered a judicial inquiry into the death of an under-trial prisoner at the Sahiwal Central Jail. The deceased was arrested a year ago and was accused of murder. He was found lying unconscious in his lockup on Wednesday morning. He was taken to the DHQ hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead. The body was sent for a post-mortem examination. Judge Mushtaq Ahmed Tarar took notice of the fact that the cause of the prisoner’s death remained undetermined and ordered Judicial Magistrate Hasnain Anwar to investigate.
