PESHAWAR:

A man was killed and three others severely injured in a bomb blast in Peshawar on Tuesday evening.

“It happened near a rainwater drain close to Hayatabad where people come to play cards every evening,” said a police official, adding the blast occurred around 800 metres away from the border of Khyber Agency.

The deceased was identified as Sardar Khan, a resident of Bara, Khyber Agency. The three injured were taken to Hayatabad Medical Complex (HMC).

In another incident, police foiled a terror bid in Bazid Khel village and defused a remote-controlled bomb.

The police were informed of a bomb planted near the BHU dispensary’s gate, after which they rushed to the site along with the bomb disposal squad and successfully defused two kilogrammes of explosives.

The building had earlier been damaged in a blast targeting late nazim Fahimur Rehman, who survived the attack but was later killed in another one.
