Targetted?: 6 men injured in clash during procession

Some enraged participants whipped out their weapons and retaliated by shooting back.

SUKKUR: A clash broke out on Friday between armed men and participants of a 12 Rabiul Awwal procession in Khairpur, leaving six people injured.

The procession was passing through Bukhari Mohalla when armed men opened fire at it. Some enraged participants whipped out their weapons and retaliated by shooting back.

As a result, six people were injured, including Abdul Samad Memon, Sardar Shaikh, Allah Warrayo Manganhar. They were taken to the Civil Hospital, Khairpur. The police failed to make any arrests. The next day, an FIR was registered at the A Section police station in which 150 unidentified people were nominated.

To vent their anger against the incident, Khairpur’s traders went on strike, keeping all the main bazaars and business centres closed throughout the day.
