Long-term solution: Arid varsity gets new VC

RAWALPINDI: After a year without a full time vice chancellor, the Punjab government has filled the vacancy at Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University.

New VC Dr Rai Niaz Ahmad, an agriculture engineer has previously served as Dean of the Faculty of Agricultural Engineering and Technology at University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF).

He joined UAF in 1981 as a lecturer in the Department of Irrigation and Drainage. In a press release, the AAU spokesperson said Dr Ahmad earned a doctorate in Agricultural Engineering from Iowa State University (ISU), USA. Dr Ahmad has authored more than 90 international and national research publications.
