ISLAMABAD: A five-day training workshop aimed to sensitise youth to play an active role in strengthening human bonds and combating hatred, especially in war-hit areas. The training, titled “Waging Peace: Piece by Piece”, was organised by PAIMAN Alumni Trust in collaboration with the European Union. It aimed to enhance the capacity of communities including youth, and contribute to building peace in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) and the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA). PAIMAN Executive Director Mossarat Qadeem said the local youth have tremendous potential for effective leadership and social transformation. This potential needs to be harnessed by women and policymakers to build community-level and sustainable peace to the region, she said. Participants of the workshop expressed their determination to apply alternative ways to resolve disputes in their communities. Designed to build capacity for effectively engaging with local policymakers, students, women hailing from Peshawar and Frontier Region of Peshawar attended the workshop.
