Eid Miladun Nabi 6,200 cops to be deployed to ensure security in twin cities

Traffic police prepares plan to ensure smooth traffic flow.

The capital police have chalked out an elaborate security plan for the main procession of Eid Miladun Nabi, on Friday, for which 2,200 officials will perform security duties, according to a press release.


A total of 2,200 cops will perform security duties on the occasion while special teams of Rangers, Crime Investigation Depertment and the Special Branch will assist them in the performance of their duties.

Islamabad Police as well as Rangers and personnel of other law-enforcement agencies will patrol the city and ensure security on the occasion. The main procession starting from Sector G-7 will be completely cordoned off through heavy deployment. The Eid Miladun Nabi procession will begin from Sitara Market in Sector G-7 and will culminate near the shrine of Hazrat Sakhi Mehmud at Aabpara.

Following the directions of the capital’s Inspector General of Police Bani Amin Khan and Senior Superintendent of Police Yaseen Farooq, all SPs, SDPOs, SHOs and other police officials will visit the routes of the procession and ensure effective coordination among the security personnel performing duties.

Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) have  also devised a plan to ensure traffic flows smoothly. SSP Dr Moeen Masood will lead the ITP’s personnel on this occasion to ensure smooth traffic flow in the city and divert traffic on alternate routes.

Close liaison will be maintained with organisers of the procession and other gatherings in the city. The Bomb Disposal Squad will ensure technical sweeping at the routes and venues. Plainclothes officials will keep a lookout for suspicious persons.

Walkthrough gates will be installed at all entry points of the procession and metal detectors will be used for checking participants.

Meanwhile, 4,000 cops will be deployed in the garrison city to ensure security for the main procession of Eid Miladun Nabi.

Additional forces of Special Branch, Elite Force along with the district police will be deployed to ensure security for Eid Miladun Nabi, according to the spokesman for Rawalpindi police. Religious scholars have also been taken on board to promote harmony in the city

Strict checking of vehicles is being carried out at entry and exist points of the city. The procession will be strictly monitored while close circuit television cameras have been installed. Parking of vehicles will not be allowed along the route of the procession.

Armed police personnel will be deployed on the rooftops of the buildings. Police patrolling has also been increased. Members of the district peace committee along with female volunteers of civil defence willalso be deployed with the procession. The route of the procession will be cleared before start of the procession and the bomb disposal squad will sweep the route The route of the main procession will be sealed and streets on the route of the procession will also be barricaded.
