MULTAN:
A number of students of the Bahauddin Zakariya University’s Engineering College protested on Tuesday against the increase in fees. They rallied in front of the vice chancellor’s office and blocked the university’s main entrance. They later observed a sit-in at Bank Chowk. The protesting students said that the university administration had been raising the fees every year. They said they were being unfairly charged a laboratory fee. Currently, they said, the annual fees at the BZU per student was Rs120,000. They said despite recognition by the Pakistan Engineering Council, their degrees were not signed by them. The students dispersed after some teachers assured them that they will bring up the issue in the next meeting with the vice chancellor.
