Heading a three-member bench, Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry observed that all officials were indulging in luxuries. He said that if the murderers of Imam and his guards were not arrested, then there was no guarantee of life for the common man.
The advocate general Sindh informed the court that a nine-member inquiry team had been constituted to probe and arrest the culprits.
The apex court inquired how Ajmal Pahari and Kamran Madhuri were acquitted. Justice Chaudhry sought a report explaining their acquittal.
Pahari, arrested for his alleged involvement in more than a hundred cases of target killings in Karachi was released from Central Jail, Karachi on Friday.
On January 17, armed men on motorcycles shot dead the MQM legislator, along with his driver and two security guards, in the Orangi Town neighbourhood of Karachi.
Investigators told The Express Tribune that in August 2010, Imam had closely coordinated with law-enforcement agencies in arresting the LeJ militants involved in Haider’s assassination – Waseem, aka Waseem Barodi, and Abdullah, aka Taimoor.
Police have registered an FIR against six unidentified people on the complaint of Mazhar Imam, Imam’s brother.

In this case, CJ also understand, that Police know the killers
so he gave 24 hours to Police to arrest Manzer killers, like Shahzeb muder case.
I am sure, Police will produce the Killer of Manzer in 24 hours to SC
@Jibran: Take it easy bro, he's CJ, not the Batman. You cannot blame him for shortcomings in our criminal justice system. He, just like average Pakistanis, does not have anything against Shias and Hazaras...he can only order, he cannot arrest the criminals on his own.
Any orders to arrest killers of more than 2000 Shias and Hazaras in 2012? Or you would just continue to fiddle the Pakistanis.
The sensational but unsuccessful orders of the Chief Justice to arrest the Prime Minister of Pakistan, without watertight proofs, lead to the death/murder of Kamran Faisal.
The whole morbid political and social system (with its Rs. 15 trillion unpayable debts, hundreds of atom bombs to destroy the whole world and the 14 centuries old sick beliefs), has gone amok and is in a murderous frenzy.
Well done. Chief Sahab.
