Prince to become third artist to be honoured with Icon Award, joining Neil Diamond and Stevie Wonder.

American singer Prince will be honoured with an Icon Award at the 2013 Billboard Music Awards.

The 54-year-old will become only the third artist to be honoured with the award, joining Neil Diamond (2011) and last year’s recipient, Stevie Wonder.



The ceremony, which is seen as one of the most prestigious awards event in the world, will honour the Purple Rain pop star at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas May 19, reports contactmusic.com.

Prince, 54, will mark the occasion with a live televised performance on the show, which will be produced by Don Mischer.
