Completed in a record time and opened for traffic a few days earlier, the 6th Road Flyover was formally inaugurated by the Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Thursday.

Though the flyover on Benazir Bhutto Road was completed at the cost of Rs1.047 billion was opened for traffic on Saturday the formal inauguration was held on Thursday when a good number of PML-N workers and party’s MNAs and MPAs from Rawalpindi gathered at Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University.

Chief Minister said completion of Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology, inauguration of Institute of Urology, Chandni Chowk Flyover, widening of roads at Churr Chowk and start of work at the Pirwadhai Road Flyover were the highlights of the performance of his government.

Hitting at the Tahirul Qadri’s long march, Sharif said only general elections would change the future of the country and continuity of democracy was the way forward for the people of Pakistan.

“The PPP-led coalition government has been on a looting spree in the country for the last five years and if elected to power PML-N would take action against them, he said.

Meanwhile, the service roads under the flyover are yet to be completed as only the bridge had been opened for the vehicular traffic.

The completion of the service roads will take two to three more months causing problems for the area business community and the residents of the surrounding localities.
