The local Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) defused an explosive device planted along the roadside in Doaba on Monday, officials said. The device weighed 10kg.
BDS in-charge Asadullah said that the bomb was placed inside a canister. “If detonated, the bomb would have caused major destruction,” he said.
Official sources said they believe the bomb was placed to target a security forces’ convoy that was on the way to Kohat from Thal. On December 17, BDS officials defused a 12-kg explosive device planted in a canister and recovered 600 yards of winding wire, 11 detonators, insulation tapes, two wireless system and 12 safety fuses in Kotkai Payan on the outskirts of Hangu.
Moreover, three rockets were fired on the outskirts of Bannu city on Monday, officials said. The rockets landed in a wasteland and caused no human loss or damage to property, said an official.
