A large number of people rallied against the low pressure of gas in Abbottabad on Monday. They blocked the busy Karakorum Highway (KKH) for over one and a half hour, disrupting traffic.
The 1,300-km-long KKH is the country’s only link to the upper parts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and also serves as the main route to Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B).
The residents of Mansehra Road, Jinnahabad, Kaghan Colony, Jhangi and several other areas have been facing low gas pressure since Saturday.
The protesters gathered outside the regional office of Sui North Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) and denounced the authorities.
They said their children have to go to schools without having breakfast.
They demanded the government to ensure the uninterrupted supply of gas to them.
Abbottabad Assistant Commissioner Usama Warraich negotiated with the protesters.
The regional manager of the SNGPL was also part of the negotiations.
The protesters cleared the road for traffic after being assured by the SNGPL regional manager that the problem will be resolved within two days.
