City development: Bahawalpur’s Central Eid Gah to be renovated

The district government has approved the renovation of Central Eid Gah at an estimated cost of Rs13.3 million. This was announced by Commissioner Muhammad Khan Khichi on Monday, while addressing a meeting with civil society members.

In addition to the renovation, facilities at the venue will be improved, he said.


The renovation project includes laying of floor tiles, repair of the boundary walls and white wash of the building. New toilets would be constructed and the ablutions room upgraded. The parks around the Eid Gah would also be revamped.

The commissioner said that the launch of another project was in the row. Under the project, tuff tiles would be laid from Shahi Bazaar to Shahzadi Chowk. The project cost has been estimated at Rs4.5 million.

The commisioner said the improved surface would make transportation to the inner parts of the city more accessible.

He said the walking ways in the market areas were important for the customers and therefore traders.

Khichi urged the traders to remove encroachments from in front of their shops voluntarily so that the market area was broadened and there be more walking space. He said every citizen had his responsiblity towards the city.
