Family accuses police of harassing them and unlawfully confiscating their properties.

KARACHI:

A day after the Supreme Court gave 24 hours to the Sindh police chief to arrest the killers of Shahzeb Khan, the family of the main accused, Shahrukh Jatoi, went to the Sindh High Court (SHC) accusing the police of harassing them and unlawfully confiscating their properties.

However, when a division bench, headed by Justice Irfan Saadat Khan, took up the matter on a request for urgent hearing, Imtiaz Javed, the caretaker of the Jatoi family’s properties, preferred to take back his petition. Imtiaz Jatoi cited the provincial home secretary, police chief, station house officer of Darakhshan police station and deputy commissioner of Karachi South as respondents. He said the police were conducting raids to arrest the brothers of the alleged accused, Shahrukh, and also confiscated their properties to pressurise them for his custody and to extract confessional statements.
