The Cabinet Division has declared Mir Kamal Mari, Member Finance Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) an absconder for his alleged involvement in a multi-billion-rupee scam.
Mari went to Switzerland five months ago after obtaining one month ex-Pakistan leave to look after his ailing mother, but has not come back since.
Mari is wanted by the law like his boss and former chief of Ogra Tauqeer Sadiq in the multibillion rupees scam in the authority.
Sources said that Cabinet Division had also contacted the embassy of Pakistan in Switzerland for any information on Mari.
Tauqeer Sadiq had given Mari the additional charge of member gas, allegedly to cover their under-the-table dealings in dishing out CNG licences on graft payments.
Cabinet Division has also made Mari dysfunctional as member gas Ogra.
At present, Chairman and Vice Chairman Ogra are dealing with the affairs of Ogra.
