LAHORE: Lahore High Court Justice Mamoon Rashid Sheikh on Friday issued a stay order against shifting the contract awarding process for Rs160 million development projects from Sahiwal to Lahore and sought a reply from the Public Works Department by January 11. The court issued the stay on a petition filed by Nasir Mehboob, a resident of Sahiwal. The petitioner said the federal government had allocated Rs410 million for development schemes in the four National Assembly constituencies of Sahiwal and directed the PWD to award the contracts. He said tenders for Rs160 million for the fourth constituency(NA-162) were opened in Lahore on January 4. Mehboob alleged that the opening was shifted as PWD officials had refused to give kickbacks to two members of the Punjab Assembly.
