City water: KWSB bans free tanker service

Water board’s MD says KWSB cannot afford to continue the free tanker service.

KARACHI:
The Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) has imposed a ban on free tanker service effective across the board, said a statement by the board issued on Wednesday.

The water board’s managing director, Misbahuddin Farid, has ordered that all chief engineers and staff be deployed at the hydrants to ensure that free tanker service is not provided to anyone.

Farid said that the KWSB cannot afford to continue the free tanker service and that it would be available at official rates, citing a need to extend the services of the KWSB and increase its revenue.
