Petitioner Asad Abbasi prayed to the court to give orders against the long march and initiate proceedings against Qadri as the march was against the state and was a conspiracy to abrogate the Constitution.
Qadri, with Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) support, has called a “million-man march” in Islamabad to demand reforms in the electoral system. Qadri said Islamabad will become a ‘peaceful’ Tahrir Square during the march.
MQM chief Altaf Hussain has expressed full support for Qadri and his cause and has called for the maximum number of people to participate in the march to bring a “revolution” in Pakistan.

Tahir ul Qadari is a controversial personality and so many times he had different opinions on different topics like GHUSTAK E RASOOL. His opinion in Europe and in Pakistan is totally opposite. How can a common man / Pakistani / Muslim will believe that Qadari sb is not telling lie. He has definite agenda of some other peoples that are against the Pakistan elections / democratic process.
"Qadri or any other baradri" Allah is the one who can give strength to any one to help the helpless and Allah is the one who can kill an eagle from a little sparrow. So qadri may be a sparrow in our eyes as yet but If Allah is in the mood to change the situation and condition of this nation, Qadri can do wonders. So Let's not underestimate or be negative for him. Qadri may be a Canadian national but he does not own serray palace or owns Swiss accounts or son who cant speak even urdu or established industries in other countries. Let's not be biased as most of us Pakistanis wants nationalities of developed countries rather even die to live their even if it's through some illegal way. So let the time decide as "TIME IS ORDER"
Are the US and other country's citizens also allowed to do power politics in Pakistan? If the court does not stop these foreigners then it is going to open Pandora's Box for all foreigners to come to Pakistan openly and forcefully. Pakistan would become a haven for rich and powerful just like we have safe havens for terrorists.
@Babablacksheep: Please think out of the box.Think beyond your own created, religious divide.
I only wish there were more people like Dr Tahir ul Qadri in Pakistan. Please people my Pakistani Brothers/Sisters wake up do you really want to live under these corrupt Politicans in the future. Why do we not think is this really democracy can any common Doctor/Engr/Teacher or any middle or lower middle class person get into politics extremely difficult. We support Dr Qadri 100%. WE WANT CHANGE WE ARE FED UP WITH THE STATUS QUO
Ricky, you write;
"Does Pakistani constitution allow foreigners to start agitation, confrontational, and revolutionary politics against an elected govt?"
The answer is obviously NO but the trouble is that Qadri is a Pakistani citizen.
Now here is my question; does the constitution of Pakistan allow money launders, tax thieves, corrupt nepotists, fake degree holders and blatant liars to become members of parliament?
I trust you will agree the answer to that is NO. They obviously do not qualify to stand in any elections. The constitution expressly forbids this.
So, what elected Government were you talking about? Is that the one that needed came out of the womb of the hateful NRO, the one that allowed every crook under the sun to have a clean slate? So please spare us this talk of 'elected govt,' it just does not wash in this day and age.
If I remember correctly there is a High Court order against the maulana which condemns him as one of the most corrupt and dis-honest man and now he is going to lead the nation to what? Honorable Chief Justice please take notice, your own courts condemned him - are you not goping to protect Pakistan from this malice.
Dr. Tahir ul Qadri is the only hope for the Berailvi Sunni muslim.
"... the (Qadri) march was against the state and was a conspiracy to abrogate the Constitution."
So let me see......is that not what our, tax-dodging, immune from prosecution, fake degree holders, self-serving and ultra corrupt parliamentarians been doing for the past five years?
Why should the parliamentarians worry about the march if they have nothing wrong and they are confident about being 'sadiq' and 'amin'?
A common man does not need any ''long march'' or ''short march'' . He needs peaceful life, food, shelter, and dress.
Petitions should be filed in British and Canadian High Commissions to stop intereference in Pakistan's internal affairs through their citizens, otherwise we will send our Mualanas in both countries to fix their political systems.
LHC will do what Punjab government asks it to do. March is officially dead now.
Whatever the motives of Tahirul Qadri, there are better ways to lodge the protest. A small incident will spark a lot of violence in Islamabad and around. Government better ban any rallies until elections.
Safety should always come first. Qadri will be in his bullet proof car and only common people will suffer!
a ‘peaceful’ Tahrir Square during the march. Good to know taliban have given guarantee for peacefull march. Taqdeer of Pakistan; Nit naya maulana-Dharti ke naseeb ujarnay walay.
Another attempt at wasting courts' time
My analysis is simple that MQM is using this opportunity as bargain point for parties and all institutions. Now as per news Rehman Malik is in London and talks with Altaf Hussain are underway. Soon we will hear "due to national interest", MQM will reconsider supporting long March and they will only go to long march for the sake of face saving. This is all political game.
