Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Memon said on Tuesday that the purpose of Tahirul Qadri’s proposed long march is to destroy democracy. The minister lashed out against the Minhajul Quran chief, saying that he was a Canadian national and could not decide the fate of a country.
Memon added that Qadri had supported Musharraf in his referendum and had won a seat in the National assembly during the military dictator’s regime, from which he withdrew before leaving for Canada. “What service has he done to the nation by such acts?” he questioned.
“If he were to stage a long march, he should have done it against Musharraf or Ziaul Haque,” Memon added.
The Sindh information minister said that change can only come through the ballot, and that a long march can make no changes to the Constitution. He added that nothing could terrorise those working for democracy. Memon also clarified that the government will setup a caretaker government only after the 20th Amendment, and that only Parliament itself will be responsible for this action.
The minister said that Qadri had mentioned terrorism in Karachi, Balochistan and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa but ‘conveniently forgot’ that the foundations of terrorism were laid during Musharraf’s regime. He added that the present government had brought about a revolution by restoring the Constitution, but Musharraf’s aides no longer remember that it was he who violated the Constitution in the first place.
Memon declared that the country cannot be fooled, and that people talking of ‘riasat and siasat’ should know that it was only politicians who can run and save this country. He added that those who claim to enjoy the support of 180 million people do not enjoy the support of even 10 per cent of the people.
Memon also condemned the blast in Karachi’s Federal B Area and termed it a conspiracy to sabotage peace in the city. He said that the government was taking all necessary steps to curb terrorist attacks.

I support Alama Tahir ul qadari is an honest man with purpouse who is trying to reform a very corrupt democracy of the present pakistani polititions.He wishes to bring reforms in the countries election system which will empower a common citizen to be able to share in the governments election system of his country without any strains and pressures from those powerful land lords that dominate the election of today.See how much these landlords looted the country to a stage of bankcruptsy. and now control the countryand its fortunes.
GOD HELP PAKISTAN.I think PPP and PML N have been out trying to destroy democracy for the last 5 years and so far they have not succeeded so Mr Memon should stop worrying about it.
A lot of people in Pakistan think that the only thing Mr Qadri is out to destroy is the stranglehold of some of the most corrupt and nepotistic people on the governance of Pakistan; It is not the system that is asphyxiating the people of Pakistan; it's the self-serving thieves who sit in our parliament that are doing so.
Mr Qadri is a threat only for those who do not want to play democracy by the rules, as outlined by the constitution.
Please stop the nonsense of calling Qadri a foreigner, I personally do not like him, but I am happy to say he is a much of a Pakistani as any other; as a matter of fact he is more of Pakistani than the new chairman of PPP, his name escapes me......

Not pro-dictator but to be honest Musharraf gave hope to me and millions of Pakistanis to have a bright future in Pakistan. A hope that wasn't present before him and has faded fast after his exit
Election reforms are needed. The majority MPs are feudals and the populations in their respective constituencies are their subordinates. How can you call a system true democracy if a villager has to vote for his sardar or "face dire consequences"? To top it all, media has no access to remote parts of Sindh, Baluchistan, KP and even certain areas in Punjab. The "dhandhli" in those areas is far worse than cities where people can raise voice through social media and other forums.
Musharraf+Tahir ul Qadri= Prosperous Pakistan hence both have the same ideolgy and vision for Pakistan
Q league also supported Musharaf and now they are in government either with PPP or PML-N. Why to blame by using this old ridicule tactic. Talk about Last 5 year performance!
Democracy is for the well being of the people. The kind of democracy you are advocating deserves to be destroyed. My dear sir, democracy is a mean and not an end in itself, which you think and try to tell the people. In the last 5 democratic years this nation has got only poverty, diseases, power & gas load shedding, worst law and order and to cut it short the fabric of this nation has been torn apart. this nation no more has the strength to hold the banner of democracy high and protect your privileges.where systems fail, mass uprisings results.
One more vulture in the field of politics.
