MIRANSHAH: Two security personnel were killed and another two injured on Sunday when an improvised explosive device (IED) planted by unidentified militants went off near a security forces van in Datta Khel tehsil of North Waziristan. According to a security official, a convoy of security forces was patrolling the area between the check post at Gharlamai and Boya at around 11am when the planted bomb exploded near one of the vehicles. A search operation was later launched and gunship helicopters hovered above the area. Meanwhile, a curfew was imposed by the political administration from 6am to 5pm in most parts of the agency. Business activities in Datta Khel, Miranshah and other tehsils were suspended, while tribesmen were informed to restrict movement across main routes due to security concerns.
