Shaker: Earthquake jolts Punjab, K-P

According to television reports, the earthquake created widespread panic and people rushed out of their homes.

An earthquake jolted various parts of Islamabad, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Azad Kashmir and Fata on Saturday at 10:52 pm.

The quake measured 5.8 on the Richter scale and according to the American Geological Survey the epicentre of the earthquake was in Al Qadri area of southwestern Afghanistan.

According to television reports, the earthquake created widespread panic and people rushed out of their homes. The tremors were felt in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Khushab, Peshawar, Noshehra, Charsadda, Mardan, Abbottabad, Haripur, Kohistan, Mansehra, Swat, Upper and Lower Dir, Chitral, Malakand, Kohistan, Bajaur, Kurram Agency, Grot, and Muzaffarabad, Bhimbar, and Mirpur in Azad Kashmir.
