The upcoming general elections were termed “the most important general elections in the history of Pakistan” by Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf President Javed Hashmi on Friday.
He was talking to the media during his visit to sub-district Kabeerwaala in Khanewal.
Hashmi said it was the voters’ responsibility to vote responsibly to bring about a change in the country’s politics. “They must realise that they will be not get such an excellent chance to choose their representatives again. If they make a mistake, they will have to bear the consequences,” said the PTI leader.
Hashmi said the PTI was trying to make sure that the interim government was an impartial one and that the elections were transparent. This, he said, was a “real challenge because both federal and provincial governments were in corrupt hands.”
The PTI president also talked about the party’s agenda, saying that its priority was a peaceful Pakistan. “Peace will automatically lead to a prosperous Pakistan”.
The people were “the real assets and policy makers” said Hashmi. He added that the PTI leaders were convinced that the people shared their vision of the welfare state.
“Peace has become essential for the survival of Pakistan because international conspirators see Pakistan as their playground for future,” he said.
Hashmi blamed “a void of leadership” for bringing the country to a stage “where terror attacks occur in every part of the country and citizens are not assured of their safety”.
