Pakistan, India agree to further strengthen conventional CBMs

Both countries convene for the sixth round of conventional CBMs in Delhi.

ISLAMABAD: The sixth round of Expert Level Talks on Conventional Confidence Building Measures (CBMs) between India and Pakistan was held in New Delhi on Thursday, with both countries deciding to continue bilateral relations, according to a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The convention was held in accordance with the agreement between the foreign ministers of both countries during their meeting on September 8, 2012, in Islamabad.

Both sides reviewed the implementation of CBMs already in place and reiterated their commitment to continue further discussions on how to strengthen conventional CBMs.

The two governments also pledged to report the progress made during the current round of talks to their respective foreign secretaries.

The problem is that Pakistani forces provide cover fire to the terrorists who cross over to India. This being the fact, it would be dereliction of duty if India pulls back its forces. Also, let's not forget the Kargil drama that Musharraf enacted.

The last meeting, Pakistan had proposed to India that deployment of artillery and mortars should be done 30 miles away from the line of control but India denied by saying that these are not at the strategic position. hypocrisy hypocrisy hypocrisy. According to my considered opinion.any proposal leading to peace must be acceptablle It is indispensable for peace. There must be distance between armed forces,artilery and morters It is essential for confidence building measures also.
