Gohar, along with his son Omar Ayub, met PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif in Raiwind to announce his joining.
Former speaker Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Haji Habibullah Tareen, Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) former provincial minister Akhtar Shah and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam’s (JUI) MPA Raja Faisal Zaman also joined the PML-N along with Gohar.
Nawaz welcomed the leaders to his party.
Gohar Ayub’s profile
Youngest son of Field Marshal Ayub Khan, Gohar won elections through the Pakistan Muslim League (PML) when the Islami Jamroohi Ittehad (IJI) came to power after controversial elections. Gohar, being a close associate of Nawaz Sharif, was then elected as the Speaker of the National Assembly.
From 1993-1997 he served as Deputy Opposition Leader during the second tenure of the late Benazir Bhutto-led PPP government. He was then appointed the foreign minister in Nawaz Sharif’s cabinet after the 1997 elections, but was removed from the position by General (Retd.) Pervez Musharraf in October 1999.
Despite being one of the few close aides of Nawaz Sharif, Gohar parted ways when he was jailed and exiled. He later joined the Pakistan Muslim League – Quaid (PML-Q) and fielded his son Omar on a PML-Q ticket in NA-19 Haripur as he did not have a bachelor’s degree at the time.

Good Decision for the progression of Hazara division and PML (N).
Why do the citizens of Pak vote in and tolerate the son's of F M Ayub Khan and Gen Zia ? It is time the people asked Gohar Ayub where did he get his money from to build his palatial home in Karachi ? certainly not from a Captain in the army salary. People like him and Aijaz ul Haq, so called leaders, should be dumped by the electorate. People of Pakistan, this is now your time to join Imran Khan's PTI and start a fresh a " New Progressive Pakistan " with great number of jobs for the youth of the country.
NS and his brother owe their existence to their political father Gen Zia. It is a natural fit for G. Ayub to join Sharif brothers. The more things change the more they stay the same! It also proves that NS is still the establishment man.
Nawaz Sharif's principled stand is that he does not have any principles.
This is the man, who in the 1960s, brought truckloads of armed men to Karachi and went on a killing spree in the city's central district. He confessed to it later. What was their fault? They voted for Jinnah's sister, Fatima Jinnah, instead of his military dictator Dad.
My PTI friends keep coooool , if he joins PTI than he would have been Clean politician, now not, ha ha ha ha ha... Like Kh.M.Hoti joined PTI first & PTI made Sr.Voice President.....

Not long ago, Gohar Ayub was commenting on Nawaz Sharif's fleeing to the Saudi Palaces that: "i belongs to a military family, and if a general flees the battle ground leaving behind his soldiers at the mercy of the enemy, there is a very strong word for him"
So now Nawaz Sharif accepts Gohar Ayub's version that he did know about Kargil operation and Musharraf was right?
