GUJRAT: A group of rickshaw drivers on Tuesday protested against the dealers who they say overcharge for LPG. The drivers, led by the president of the Rickshaw Union Sabir Raza Mughal, surrounded the Katchehry Chowk, blocking the crossing from all four sides. They carried banners and placards and shouted slogans against LPG dealers and the district administration. Mughal said that LPG dealers were charging Rs175 per kilogramme, whereas the rate approved by the government was Rs135 per kg. He said they had taken up the matter with the district administration several times but the dealers continued to overcharge. The rickshaw drivers threatened to go on a strike if no action was taken against the offending dealers. The protesters dispersed after two hours.
