Danish Kaneria under investigation for match-fixing

LAHORE: Spinner Danish Kaneria, who is due to play for English county Essex this summer, will be investigated by police over a cricket betting scandal.

Kaneria will be probed along with an another Essex player following their role in match-fixing in one-day county matches last summer.

The other player - a lower profile member of the staff who is not featuring in the opening championship match against Hampshire, will almost certainly be released if found guilty.

Essex Coach Paul Grayson has refused to comment on the probe. Reports say Essex came to known about the allegations a month ago.
