HANGU:

The Anti-Corruption Department (ACD) on Saturday registered an FIR against former deputy director of the livestock department and SHO of Thal tehsil over their alleged involvement in cattle smuggling.

ACD Director Mian Mustafa said an inquiry committee was formed to probe charges leveled against former deputy director livestock Misal Khan and SHO Sher Bhadar in 2011.

They were allegedly involved in transporting cattle to Afghanistan via Thal. Upon completion of the investigation, they were found guilty and an FIR was lodged in Kohat police station. ACD director Mustafa confirmed an FIR has been registered. However, SHO Bhadar only confirmed the inquiry.

The provincial government had earlier imposed restrictions on cattle smuggling to Afghanistan on the orders of the Peshawar High Court.
