WASHINGTON:
US President Barack Obama has said that creating a safe and secure environment in Pakistan and Afghanistan remained the singular focus of his administration.
In an interview to ABC television channel, Obama said that dismantling and destroying militants bases was the primary objective.
He stressed on the need for a mix of security and economic efforts to weaken al-Qaeda militants.

The ‘war on terror’ is unique in the sense that it is being fought on so many different levels at the same times. Political, economic, social to name a few. USA has already helped Pakistan fiscally and logistically.

This mix of security efforts will certainly lead to an improved offensive against Taliban and their allies; as recently we have observed new militant groups emerging on the scene, so the importance of this improved cooperation has increased.
