The Afghan Charge d' Affaires was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Saturday and a strong protest was lodged, seeking an investigation into the incident and action against those responsible.
The Afghan government was also asked to take appropriate measures to avoid recurrence of such incidents in future,said a statement of the FO here.
A similar protest was lodged by the Ambassador of Pakistan in Kabul with the Afghan government.
The ensuing closure of the gate resulted in a standstill of traffic on both sides of the border, stranding thousands of people.
Long lines of vehicles were seen on both sides, including trucks and cars.

labourers tortured were punjabis, afghan refugees here live only in pashtun areas and in karachi. so punjabis don't tell our afghan brothers that you helped them. and punjabis deserve such attitude from afghan authorities, once you read the punjabis' role in what is happening in balochistan, pashtunistan and afghanistan.
regards from pashtunistan
Pakistanis working in Afganistan as laborers.???.Pakistanis emigrate to greener pastures like U.K.,or U.S.A.,but is the condition so worse that they are compelled to work in Afganistan. Apart from the sad incident,Pakistan govt. must be ashamed about its economic policies. Or else we will hear Pakistani laborers harassed in Ivory Coast,Mongolia and in Ecuador..
@Wish Zalmiyan: A thief with a degree is worse than thief without degree.
As for the rant about being Indian roots, my ancestors were Rajputs but I never liked India one bit, no normal person want to associate with farce of a class system and subjugate poor people to atrocities hindu country with facade of secularism.
Like other apartheid countries like South Africa and Israel, India will face its end soon because persecuted Dalits prayers are heard loud and clear up there.
I'm happy that the current Pakistani government finally took some action for it's people. The government can't take care of Pakistanis, how do they expect to take care of 3 million Afghan refugees? Send them home!
Thanks to Pakistani government. I hope this protest from the Pakistani side could awaken the sleeping ghairat (honor) of the Afghan government and start taking notice of those Afghans who are harassed and tortured in Peshawar despite having travel documents.
@Baloch Insafian:
Since you're supporting a political party as seems from your moniker, May I ask you why are we all supporting these parties if they have no such manifesto where they talk about removing 2.6 Million Refugees (1.6 million registered) who're harming our country and its economy? May I ask how many of us from all political parties actually check manifestos and how many of these main parties actually have any such agenda where they would sort out our problems such as Refugees repatriation, population control awareness instead of building roads & bridges since no amount of "development" will ever will enough unless we control our population rate, Do we check if they have any planning for privatization of our railways and PIA or if they care about address our educational issues, or implementation of tax system among a dozen other real problems.
No muslim will ever ill treat another muslim. This is a RAW,CIA conspiracy to divide the muslim unity.
I bet they were spies working for the ISI.
Silly people all of you. At least they returned them alive and they are back with their families. What about the more than 30 people killed in last 24 hours by terrorists and bhatta khors, including a MPA ?
First repair your own house before worrying about your neighbor's.
@ammar.... I am a PAKISTANI. we love our afghan brothers and sisters and will help them in this hour of distress....the act of some of their non-pashtun army is biased ( previous some were northern alliance and they hate Pakistan and Pashtuns). Pashtuns are one big family and tribe half of them living on this side of border in Pakistan and other on the other side of border in Afghanistan. You sound to me an INDIAN !!!! trying to create hate among Pakistani and Afghanis brothers.
@Sajid Iqbal, Nadir, Baloch...
What about the Ummah?
You can't expect much from a government which was installed by JSOC and whose brother was a drug dealer.
Pakistanis going to Afghanistan for work. It was always the other way round. Talking about favours lets not forget the contribution by ISI in destablishing afghanistan using taleban.
there are lot of afghanis in pakistan,kill 30 of them
Pakistan should straight away start returning Afghan Refugees. No amount of favors will make them human beings. Pakistan must stop all the movement of Afghans from across the border.
Pakistan should take notice and seal the border to these ungrates from Afghanistan. For decades they have been given shelter and security in Pakistan but when Pakistanis go there to help rebuild that unstable nation, this is the thanks they get! Afghanistan probably has taken orders from their Indian masters to harm Pakistani citizens. By closing the border and restricting movement there, it sends a strong signal that the nation won't take nonsense or abuse of its citizens by the corrupt Afghani officials.
Thanks to Almighty Allah ------------- that Pakistan for the first time for its poor labors, lodges a strong protest with Aghan Government.

Throw the Afghan refugees out of Pakistan... they are worth it..!
We must look Afghan officials in the EYE!
Damn these Afghans. Expel all of them back there and they will come to their senses.
government from both sides should respect the people from both sides. issues like this will only affect the neighboring relationship.
Just send back the 3+ million illegal Afghans living in Pakistan and terrorism will drop by at least 75%. Not only will the situation in KP & FATA significantly improve but target killing in Karachi will be reduced by 50%
