JAMRUD:

Despite the political administration’s claims to have provided security to vehicles supplying goods to foreign troops stationed in Afghanistan, another North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (Nato) vehicle was attacked on Friday.

At 8:20am, militants travelling on a motorbike intercepted a Nato container in Wazir Dhandh area of Jamrud and opened fire, injuring the driver and cleaner, political administration official Asmatullah Wazir said.

The official added that both wounded men, who were brothers, were rushed to Hayatabad Medical Complex. The brothers were identified as Rasim Khan and Noor Khan, residents of Mashokhel.

“We launched a search operation in the area soon after the incident,” said the official adding that 12 suspects were arrested for investigations.

After a series of attacks on vehicles supplying goods to Nato troops, officials in Jamrud have imposed a ban on motorbikes as most of the vehicles were targeted by militants travelling on motorcycles.

Talking to reporters from an undisclosed location, a man, who identified himself as Abu Hamza and cited his association with an unknown militant group, claimed responsibility for the attack.
