
The Anti-Terrorism Court III charged a suspect, Zulfiqar alias Abu, on Tuesday - after over three years - for reportedly being involved in a grenade attack in Lyari.
Zulfiqar was charged with “attempted murder, rioting, finding every person involved in an ‘unlawful assembly’ guilty if an offence is committed by a member, punishment for hurting through a rash or negligent act” under the Pakistan Penal Code, as well as under sections 3 and 4 of the Explosives Act and section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act.
The suspect along with 30 other absconders, including Sheraz Comrade and Baba Ladla, are accused of being involved in a grenade attack which took place between 7:50pm and 8:30pm on September 22, 2009 at the Shah Latif Bhittai Road. Three police officers and two civilians were injured in the attack.
An FIR 272/2009 was registered at the Baghdadi police station. The court will next hear the case on January 7.
