Flood tax committee formed in Sindh

The committee, comprising of Sindh government official, is to present a report on flood tax within a week.

KARACHI: President Asif Ali Zardari on Wednesday formed a committee to suggest and implement flood tax in Sindh.

The committee, comprising of Sindh government officials, has been asked to present its report within a week.

Provincial Finance Minister Murad Ali Shah, Revenue Minister Jam Mehtab Dehar and Excise and Taxation Minister Mukesh Kumar Chawla met in Karachi for a preliminary meeting.

They discussed methods to implement the flood tax and to devise a strategy to collect tax from the Cantonment Board, D.H.A and Railway areas which do not come under the provincial government.

The committee will also include members from the ministry of finance, revenue, and excise and taxation.
