ZHUHAI: One of China’s top air-conditioner manufacturers, which has been in Pakistan for a long time has expressed satisfaction with the response so far, according to a senior official of the company.

“Our company has been present in Pakistan since the last ten years and has been doing good business,” Sun Yiqing, president assistance and chairman of the labour union of Gree Electric Appliances, told a group of media from developing countries and Brics, a trade bloc comprising Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.

The visit was arranged by the Foreign Ministry of the Peoples Republic of China in coordination with the provincial government of Guangdong to brief the economic and social development the province has achieved from grass root level as it was one of the pioneers of China’s Reforms and Opening up policy introduced by Deng Xioping.

Yiqing said that we have so far sold over 300,000 air-conditioners (AC) to Pakistan as complete knockdown (CKD). He also said Gree is a joint venture agreement in partnership with a Pakistani trader.

Besides air-conditioners, Yiqing said Gree was also supplying parts to various famous Pakistani brands engaged in the business of manufacturing ACs. He stressed that Pakistan was a ‘good’ market and suited the business strategy of the company.

Founded in 1991, Gree Electric Appliance Inc is one of the world’s largest specialised air conditioner enterprises integrating research and development, manufacturing, marketing and services. The company has nine manufacturing bases within China and other countries including Pakistan and Brazil, he said. The company has a workforce of over 80,000 globally, delivering air-conditioners of 20 categories and 7,000 models.
