Two police constables of the Crime Investigation Department (CID), Khurram Shehzad and Mohammad Sohail, were killed after being kidnapped from Hub River Road. Their bodies were later found from Mochko and Garden areas on Saturday. They were shot multiple times and their bodies bore several torture marks.
Another policeman, ASI Mohsin, was shot dead in a targeted attack near Banaras flyover in Pirabad Saturday evening when he and head constable Rizwan were on their way to the murder scene of a political activist in Orangi Town.

On Sunday, Sindh IGP Fayyaz Leghari and several other senior police officials among the victims’ relatives attended the funeral prayers of the three slain police inspectors.
Leghari said the attacks on police are the result of frequent crackdowns against criminals. “These are dangerous times but we are ready to deal with them,” he said. “The cold-blooded murders of policemen will not shatter our determination.”
Sixteen police stations in Karachi have been declared sensitive, said Leghari. He also announced a compensation of Rs2 million each to the family of the victims as well as jobs for their family members and pensions.

The CID police have detained a few suspects for their possible involvement in the policemen’s killings. They have been shifted to an undisclosed location for interrogation, police sources privy to the investigation told The Express Tribune.
