Anti-polio drive to begin on 19th

76 zonal supervisors and 545 area in-charges had been assigned duties to monitor the performance of anti-polio teams.

A three-day anti-polio drive will start in various districts of the Punjab from Wednesday.


Executive District Officer (Health) Dr Abdur Rauf said that 2,753 teams had been constituted to administer the polio vaccine to 1.073 million children under five years old.

Briefing reporters on Sunday, he said that 2,229 mobile teams will visit houses to give polio drops to the children. The rest of the teams, he said, will be deployed at fixed points in public areas, including bus stands and railway stations.

He said that 76 zonal supervisors and 545 area in-charges had been assigned duties to monitor the performance of anti-polio teams.

Sadiqabad AC seeks  parents’ cooperation

“People have to cooperate with government organisations to eradicate polio from its roots. Parents have to immunise their children against polio and protect them against physical disabilities,” Assistant Commissioner Malik Abdul Jabbar said on Sunday.

He was addressing the inaugural ceremony of the three-day anti-polio drive beginning in the Gujranwala district from Wednesday.

Deputy District Officer (Health) Dr Abdus Sattar Solangi, Tehsil Municipal Officer Zakir Masood Chaudhry and THQ Medical Superintendent Dr Qamarul Qayyum Tariq were also present.
