Change: NLA director general retires

National language Authority Director General (DG) Dr Anwar Ahmed retired on Tuesday, said a press release. Dr Anwar remained as NLA DG for about 18 months. The authority published more than 50 books during his tenure including the famous “Urdu Roosi Laguat”. A number of other books are in the process of being published. Anwar handed over the charge to Dr Rashid Hameed in a ceremony organised by the department. Dr Hameed has organised several seminars for the promotion of Urdu language. He was also attached with Urdu departments in the University of Osaka Japan and Ankara University Turkey. He is also a well-known fiction writer.
