Law enforcers apprehended about two dozen suspects, including gangsters, during two operations on Monday in different areas of the city.
Rangers swept through Mehmoodabad and arrested at least 17 suspects after a meticulous raid, which reportedly lasted for at least seven hours. The operation was conducted after the law enforcers were tipped off about the presence of criminals in the area. The area was cordoned off and the children stepping out onto the streets to go to school were quite flustered by the presence of the law enforcers in their neighbourhood.
Among those taken into custody were people affiliated with a political party as well as target killers. The detained men are being interrogated at an unknown location. The Rangers drove off with 50 people, but released 33 of them as they were found innocent during the investigation.

A Rangers spokesperson thanked the area’s residents, saying that they had wholeheartedly cooperated with the law enforcers while the raid was going on. “We have a lot of concern for any difficulty felt by anyone, especially school-going children,” said the spokesperson.
Rangers also claim to have seized 26 pistols, five sub-machine guns (SMGs), one MP-5 rifle, two 8mm rifles, two repeaters, one .222 rifle, 952 ammunition rounds, an improvised explosive device (IED) and a stolen car during the operation.
In another raid, the Rangers arrested as many as seven men reportedly belonging to a banned outfit during an operation in the Pak Colony area. According to a Rangers spokesperson, two hand grenades, three pistols, a walkie-talkie set and 25 kilogrammes of hashish were also seized. The arrested men are now being interrogated.
