Opening gateways: PIA to start Quetta-Kandahar flight

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) will commence flights between Quetta in Pakistan and Kandahar in Afghanistan from December 25 on the occasion of the 136th birth anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah.

Quetta and Kandahar are thriving commercial towns and it was a long-standing demand of the business community of both the cities to start commercial flights between the two, said a PIA spokesman here. Initially, two flights will operate weekly on the Karachi-Quetta-Kandahar-Quetta-Karachi sector every Tuesday and Thursday using the ATR aircraft.

He said the launch of these flights will enable PIA to expand its network in Afghanistan. These flights will also help connect people in southern Afghanistan to the rest of the world.
