Parents Day: Moms and dads enjoy kiddos’ work

Painting competition held, student sang, performed skits and short plays.

ISLAMABAD:

Students of Bloomfield Hall School on Saturday enthralled the audience during their annual parent’s day, held at Sir Syed Memorial Society.

Hundreds of students and parents participated in the event, where Higher Education Commission Chairman Dr Javed Laghari was the chief guest.

Students performed different skits, tableau and songs highlighting the culture of the country, especially the skits by nursery students. Awards were also distributed among the best students of the year.

The Gulgee Artist of the Year competition was arguably the main attraction, where over 50 students participated by showing off their skills with the paintbrush. “I personally like to paint and Gulgee was a role model for me. I am happy to get first position,” said Abeesha Saud.

Shazia Javed, the principal of the school, informed the audience that basic objective of the event is to encourage the students. “I believe these events encourage students, as extracurricular activities are important,” she added.

“It’s a good way to interact with teachers and that is actually the spirit of the day, as students are provided to give opportunity to perform,” said Aqsa Amir, a participant.

Dr Javed Laghari appreciated the students’ performances while emphasising the importance of a good education, saying, “There are many fields for students and up to them in which they are interested but ultimately, education should be their goal, because we have to compete in the world.”

At the end, a group of students performed ‘Trail of Tears’, a play based on the experiences of Native Americans during their eviction from their native lands in the 19th century to make way for settlers.
