PAF maintained their fourth position in the Pakistan Premier Football League with a 1-0 win over Navy in Karachi yesterday.
Arif Nawaz helped his side take an early lead, scoring in the eighth minute to stun the hosts. Navy did have six shots on target but nothing to show from their efforts as PAF took home maximum points. PAF now have 43 points after 22 matches and coach Muhammad Arshad said the win has increased their chances of finishing in the top-three.
“We have six matches to go which means we can get 18 more points,” Arshad told The Express Tribune. “With easier opponents, we have a chance of winning. Muslim FC is a threat but our goal-difference is better. Moreover, they have won most of their matches at home while my team is capable of winning anywhere. I’m hopeful about ending the season on a high note. It’s our best season since 1981.”
Meanwhile, Navy are now in ninth with 23 points after 23 matches.
