Threats averted: Bombs defused in school, check post

It was a remote-controlled bomb and more than six kilogrammes of explosives had been used.

TIMERGARA/ SHERGARH: Bomb disposal squad (BDS) officials thwarted an attempt to blow up a school in Mardan on Friday. Takht Bhai Police Inspector Shoaib Khan said that at around 11am the watchman of the Miagano Kallay Girls Primary School called him to say assailants had planted explosives in a canister within the boundary wall of the school. BDS official Saeed Ahmad defused the bomb and said two kilogrammes had been used to make the device. In another incident, a bomb planted outside Osakai police check post in Ouch, Lower Dir was defused. Chakdarra Police DSP Ali Rahman said that a police constable had spotted a black sack placed outside the check post. It was a remote-controlled bomb and more than six kilogrammes of explosives had been used.
