PESHAWAR: A US delegation led by Counsel General Robert G Reed visited the University of Peshawar and met Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Qibla Ayaz. Ayaz told the counsel general that the university’s students are kept informed about the prevailing regional situation. While visiting the mass communication department, Reed said that journalism is challenging in Pakistan due to security threats. However, the field has gained more importance as the appetite for information has increased, he said. The public affairs officer at the US Counsulate, Ms Tammy Paltchikov, said that $10,000 has been allocated to renovate the Lincoln’s corner and the work will commence soon. The delegation also visited the campus’ radio station and the broadcasting academy.
