“Pakistan needs to spend at least 4% of the gross domestic product (GDP) on education to increase the literacy rate whereas at present, 1.7% is being spent on the sector,” said Government College University Faisalabad Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Zakir Hussain.
He was addressing the ‘Nanotechnology: opportunity and future prospects in Pakistan’ seminar.
Talking about education, Hussain said policymakers should take concrete steps to address the issue at national level to boost up education which is prerequisite for attaining the goal of prosperity.
He also stressed adopting a common curriculum in order to provide uniform education to all the dwellers.
We have to produce a force of manpower skilled in modern knowledge including nanotechnology which is gaining immense importance in developed and developing countries, he added.
