KARACHI:

The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) imposed an immediate ban on Tuesday on all billboards and hoardings which have been set up illegally.

KMC administrator Muhammad Hussain Syed said relocation of such hoardings has also been prohibited. This action has been taken to curb the mushroom growth of signboards and hoardings which have ruined the face of the city and cause difficulty in visuals along roads, he said.

From now on, only those billboards will be allowed that have been approved by the offices of technical services director general and transport and communication senior director. Directives have also been issued to remove all such signboards along Sharae Faisal, Sharae Pakistan and Sharae Quaideen. Syed added that precautionary measures, recommended size and standard should be taken into consideration.
