PESHAWAR:

Sub-inspector Tajamul Shah had been the Shahab Khel police check post in-charge for two years. A resident of Garhi Dolazai in Mardan district, Shah joined the force in March 1979 as a constable.

His comrade Ibrar was a resident of Teleband village. He was hired by the police on a two-year contract to serve in the police special force, a unit responsible for community policing.

However, due to a shortage of personnel, Ibrar was later transferred to Shahab Khel. He leaves behind a one-year-old daughter.

“Tajumal Shah served in one of the most dangerous regions engulfed by militancy. He was really committed to eliminating terrorism from the area,” said the head of Suliman Khel peace militia, Muhammad Fida. Commenting on Ibrar, Fida said he lacked experience, but was equally committed.

Funeral prayers for both policemen were offered in Malik Saad Shaheed Police Lines. The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa governor, senior ministers and high-ranking police officials were also present. The bodies were sent to their ancestral towns for burial.
