KARACHI: The Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Risalpur regiment took charge of the Mazar-e-Quaid on Monday, September 6, to commemorate the Defence Day.
The regiment of 94 cadets included five women and was led by squadron leader Waqar Zaib. Air Vice-Marshal Hafeezullah paid his respects to Mohammad Ali Jinnah and laid a floral wreath over his grave while regiments from the navy and the army also paid their respects to the founder of the nation. According to a statement issued by the Pakistan Navy, the chief of the naval staff, admiral Noman Bashir, said that, “The feats of our soldiers will continue to guide the future generations and motivate them to safeguard our freedom and sovereignty at all costs.”
Meanwhile in Sukkur, all functions and ceremonies were cancelled under the government’s orders to use the funds set aside for celebration to help flood survivors instead.
