Capital punishment: Man awarded death sentence

The judge also direct the convict to pay Rs100,000 as compensation to the heirs of the deceased.

LAHORE: Additional District and Sessions Judge Sajjad Ahmed on Friday awarded the death sentence to a convict for killing a female doctor. The judge also directed the convict to pay Rs100,000 as compensation to the heirs of the deceased. In case of non-payment, he would have to spend another six months in prison. Mubin Ahmed had gunned down Dr Amina as she refused to examine him at her clinic. According to the FIR registered on the complaint of Abdul Manan, brother of Dr Amina, he went to see his sister at her clinic when Ahmed appeared there for a check-up. He said his sister refused to examine him as the clinic was meant for women only. He said Ahmed got infuriated and shot her dead.
