RAWALPINDI:

A 24-year-old man was injured when he allegedly jumped off a building while running from the police on Thursday.

Though the police claim he was a drug pusher and they had seized 210 grams of hashish from his possession, the suspect, Asim, has refuted the allegation. Instead, he has accused the Sadiqabad police and another man of pushing him from the fifth floor of Sohan Plaza in Dhoke Kala Khan.

The suspect, who fractured two arms and a leg besides getting multiple head injuries, is currently under treatment at Benazir Bhutto Hospital. He said he had lent Rs3,000 to his friend, who refused to repay the amount. “I asked him to repay the money, but he called two police officials and dragged me to the fifth floor and pushed me down,” he alleged.

However, SHO Tahir Kazmi said Asim was selling hashish and jumped from the building’s first floor when a police team raided the area. A case has been registered against the suspect.
